Aiming to make things more convenient, Superbook, a creation of Andromium, has arrived. It’s a shell that lets you convert your smartphone into a complete laptop. So, instead of using two computers–phone and laptop–you just need to use one.
Unlike a normal laptop, Superbook shell doesn’t have its own memory, processor, or operating system. It does have an 11.6-inch screen, a touchpad, and a keyboard, that let it turn into a full-fledged laptop when connected to an Android smartphone.
After you connect your smartphone to Superbook, your applications and browsers will run on the bigger screen that weighs just 0.9 kg. Just download the Andromium app from Play Store, connect your phone, and you are ready to go.
Superbook’s Kickstarter page states:
“With the Superbook, you can do everything you can do on a laptop—and more. With desktop-class browsing, access to office applications, games, and even programming, the opportunities are limitless.”
Just in case you are wondering if you need some ‘superphone’ to run Superbook, let me tell you that it’s compatible will all major Android brands including Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony, Huawei, Nexus and more.
It’s interesting to note that Superbook was rejected internally by Google, when Andromium CEO Gordon Zheng was a senior software engineer at Google. Later, he quit Google and started his own company.
