oogle And Bing are by far, the most popular search engines to have ever been created. However, there are still other search engines out there that many of us have never even heard of before, but they still serve millions of search queries each day. Despite the popularity of Google, Bing and all the other thousands of search engines out there, they will never be able to take the spot of the very first search engine to have ever existed, Archie.  Archie was created in 1990 by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal. Thanks to Emtage’s creation, many of the search engines that we use would probably not be the way they are now. His techniques laid the foundation for the development search engines (and similar technology) that we all know (…and don’t know) and cannot do without.
