u, who is based in Shanghai, had made the mistake of leaving her Iphone with her two-year-old son to watch educational videos.Upon her return she realised that her Iphone has been locked and she should try back in the next 25 million minutes, which when calculated, equals to 48 years. Her child repeatedly entered the wrong password on the Iphone which triggered a lock down.
“I couldn’t really wait for 47 years and tell my grandchild it was your father’s mistake,” Lu was quoted saying by the South China Morning Post.
Getting locked out of your Iphone for 48 years isn’t the end of the world. Instead of waiting for almost 5 decades to enter her correct password, she can access her phone in just minutes by doing a factory reset on the device, according to an apple technician, whom Lu had contacted after the incident in January.
He went on to say that there had been similar cases in the past where an Iphone was disabled for up to 80 years. However, in Lu’s case, she is still trying to figure out a way to get her Iphone back to normal without losing all of the contents on her device.
It is still unclear how many attempts were made by the toddler to escalate the timer to 25 million minutes.
Nonetheless, people need to be aware that this can happen on any IOS-Based device, as they are designed to lock down for an increased period time after each successive, incorrect, password entry.
